If you are like most people with laptops you know that they are only as portable as the nearest outlet. The companies advertise like their laptop batteries make these machines so that they can go anywhere with you and there will be no problem but there is a problem. You only have a couple hours max of normal word processing type use and then you are toast unless you either have a backup battery or you can plug in somewhere and recharge. The other problem is that lots of places that you go and that you would love to use a laptop at arent able to supply outlets to everyone and so you are up a creek as they say.
So my main question for this piece is why are laptop batteries so bad? To answer this question I am going to do a quick search on the internet and try to quickly glean as much information as I can in the next few minutes and then I will proceed to pack it in to the next 2 paragraphs or so. Here I go.
Well we will start with what most batteries are made of and that is Lithium Ion cells (older laptop batteries were made of nickel cadmium). These batteries have several advantages including no memory and no scheduled cycling (That does not mean however that it is a good idea to repeatedly run your battery dead). These batteries are therefore low maintenance. However because their cell oxidation can not be reversed through cycling there is a definite and short lifespan for these batteries. This turns out to be around two to three years and is not necessarily lengthened by not using as oxidation goes on in the form of self discharge even when stored.
Now it is recommended that one stores the battery at about 40% capacity and in a cool place. The 40% capacity gives it the ability to self discharge slowly without going all the way dead (which is bad for these laptop batteries, if you recall). These batteries will oxidize more slowly in cooler temperatures which prolongs the life. These power cells are not meant for long term storage as already mentioned because the self discharge will drain it sometimes to the point of no return.
The reason why these new laptop batteries are so much more expensive than they used to be is because they require an internal circuit that prevents it from overcharging. Overcharging can cause the battery to heat up and actually burst into flames.

We are all just human. Each of us has our own set of character flaws or character defects. There are many people that wear masks, if you will, and they wear different ones for different people. There seems to be this mystification of projecting the right image to prospects in the dating world. Many people might answer this question with a resounding yes; I want to project a fantasy that will attract the perfect match for me. According to the Freudian Conflict Theory in personality, we have id, ego and superego all busy at work within our psyche. All jockey for position to dominate our thinking. Thus, our behavior is directly affected in various ways at different times and in different situations. The id operates within our psyche on the basis of pleasure only. It is childlike in many ways, and according to the theory, it is the driving force behind pleasure seeking. The superego is the morality or moral guidance barometer of the psyche. This mostly comes from what we have been taught is morally right or wrong. However, there is an innate conscience component of the superego that is theoretically not governed by what we have been taught. Then there is the ego; that self image that we project to the outside world. The ego creates a balance between id and superego. It saves us from being victims of our own pleasure. It is, in essence, the caretaker of the id and the superego. As they each have different goals, they are constantly in conflict with each other.
This sounds like a real mess. In many ways it certainly seems so. A normal person is full of conflict about themselves and who they really are. The theory makes it sound like we are all egomaniacs with inferiority complexes. What does all this have to do with honesty? Well it all comes down to perceptions. That is, our own self-perception and the perception of others. We have a tendency to make comparisons of our inner self with what we perceive to be the ideal self.
Or we may compare ourselves to others. In so doing, we may intentionally misrepresent our actual self as our ideal self. Or, we may just flat out lie about who we are and squelch the guilt.
As a smoker, Ive been taught that smoking is wrong. It is unhealthy, it is smelly, it is unattractive to the opposite sex, etc., etc. The list goes on forever, and frankly, Im tired of hearing it. Ive come to grips with my smoking. Even though it isnt something I am proud of, it is a part of who I am. If I were to quit smoking, then that would be a part of who I am at that time. I dont make excuses for being me and I dont apologize for it.

Its life-lessons like these that have brought me full circle to being honest with myself. There are many more people out there just like me. This works well, especially when tempered with some common sense. After all, there is no reason to be so blatantly honest about meaningless things that may hurt someones feelings. Being honest doesnt mean you have to be cruel.

Phillies Ticket at Face Value
On opening day for the Philadelphia Phillies, my wife and I were anxious to attend but we did not have tickets.
The night before the game, we decided to arrive at the ballpark early with a cooler full of tailgating food and drink, and try to find a scalper that would give us a deal on some good seats.
Much to our surprise, there was not a scalper in sight. Very strange for the city of Philadelphia. Like twilight zone strange.

She told me it was a waste of my time because the game was sold out, which it was.
I said what have we got to lose? So I went to the ticket window to see if I could get some Phillies tickets at face value.
And sure enough I did. I didnt even have to settle for standing room only. We got two tickets in the outfield and got to watch the Phillies lose in the cold and rain.
I was just happy that I was able to get my Phillies tickets at face value and not have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to a scalper.

The Small Corporate Registration was designed specifically for small businesses. It allows small companies to raise equity or debt capital publicly without having to register with Securities and Exchange Commission.
